Sultan (Sultan of Turkey, Emperor of Germany) ====== This game uses two card packs, the odds are in the players favour when using eight divan bases, diminishing as the number of divan bases are reduced. Original game play taken from The Penguin Book of Patience By David Parlett. MS Windows (TM) Version by John Gould (C) 1994,95 Layout ------ A rectangle of nine card are initially dealt, the central King (the Sultan) is surrounded by seven Kings and an Ace of hearts. These cards are known as the harem. Two lines of cards are dealt either side of this nine card layout, they form a reserve known are the divan. In this version of the game the divan can consist of from two to eight cards. The default value is eight cards. The options drop down menu selects the number of cards that form the divan. To the right and top of the layout is the deal pack, with the discard pile immediately below. Object ------ The sultan is not built upon, the Ace and other Kings are built upwards in suit to the Queens. (Kings immediately followed by Aces) Any spaces vacated by cards placed from the divan on to the harem bases must be replaced by cards from the discard or deal piles before further cards can be moved to the discard pile. The game is complete when eight Queens surround the sultan. Play ---- Click and drag to move cards. Click on the pack to deal cards, three at a time during the first deal. Single cards are produced during the two following re-deals. After the first deal the pack can be double clicked to move cards from the deal to discard piles. The discard pile is automatically shuffled before each of the two redeals. Distribution ------------ You are granted the right to use and to make an unlimited number of copies of this software.
